The main core of Art City Bologna consists of a Main program articulated in one Special project and in a series of curatorial projects ranging from the most diverse contemporary artistic practices.
Also in this edition, the action contexts of the most diverse typologies vary: from symbolic places par excellence of bourgeois history such as Piazza Maggiore, Palazzo d’Accursio and the National Picture Gallery of Bologna, to palaces of great value that become cultural containers, to a precious architectural treasure such as the Pavilion de l’Esprit Nouveau designed by Le Corbusier, to the green treasury of the University Museum System, located in the heart of the university district, such as the ‘ Botanical Garden and Herbarium. The 2022 edition is also characterized by a wider and polycentric dimension that extends the widespread constellation of events to the metropolitan area of Bologna.

Stultifera is a great performative work conceived by Benni Bosetto on the occasion of ART CITY Bologna 2022 that finds space in the Salone degli Incamminati of the National Art Gallery of Bologna. The work deals with the subject of Sebastian Brant’s The Ship of Fools, a satirical work published in 1494, overturning moral criticism and instead reflecting on the potential of the ‘crazy’, on his absence of fear and thus on the generative dynamics inherent in this instinct.

Fuori Terra is a sculptural group consisting of human-like figures immersed in an installation environment. Modeled in two-component resin, the sculptures are organized to form several anecdotal elements, readable as a cosmogony created by the artist from two visual alphabets: the new age aesthetic and that of commercial television.
The exhibition stems from the artist’s interest in the concept of truth.

Italo Zuffi, Front and back
12 – 29 May 2022
Banca di Bologna conference room | Palazzo de ‘Toschic’, Piazza Minghetti 4 / d. Personal exhibition curated by Lorenzo Balbi and Davide Ferri.
The exhibition, curated by Lorenzo Balbi and Davide Ferri, is in temporal and conceptual continuity with the exhibition in progress at MAMbo, to form a single project divided into two spaces: as the first part takes a retrospective look at Zuffi’s work (through a spectrum of works between the mid-1990s and 2020), at Palazzo De’ Toschi, a series of new productions touch on some of the key aspects of his most recent research. This passage of the baton ensures that the exhibition proposal of the two spaces is completely focused on an Italian artist, one of the most important among those born in the late 1960s, allowing a 360-degree deepening of his work.
