As part of the European Night of Museums, on Saturday 14 May 2022, 16 museums and exhibition locations in Bordeaux †Gironde) open their doors for free from 6pm to midnight.

400,000 years of history in the Aquitaine Museum
Located at Cours Pasteur 20, the Museum of Aquitaine offers its visitors a journey through history, from prehistoric times to the 21st century. During the visit, a workshop is organized to make a coat of arms from the Middle Ages.
Another exhibition is available with “O candelabro, Aristides de Sousa Mendes, a Consul in Resistance”. It is dedicated to this Portuguese consul in Bordeaux who in 1940 saved thousands of people by issuing visas to those who wanted to flee France.
A quiz is organized from 19:00 to midnight.
Fight against racism prejudice at the Museum of Science and Nature of Bordeaux
At 5 place Bardineau, the exhibition “We and the others” begins at the Museum of Bordeaux. It has been designed with great educational care to raise awareness and combat racism in society.
Another exhibition dedicated to all kinds of collections: “Collecting Nature”. It is advisable to bring your camera to make your own collection on site.
Musical visits to the Museum of Fine Arts
At 7.30 pm at the Museum of Fine Arts, a slam by students of Francois Mauriac secondary school will accompany visitors to the temporary exhibition “Tales from the Land of Arcadia”.
At 20:00, students of the State Diploma of Dance Teacher – Bordeaux Nouvelle-Aquitaine Higher Education Center for Music and Dance will perform “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” by Claude Debussy.
Create your nightgown at the CAPC contemporary art museum
A workshop will be organized in the CAPC from 6:00 pm to midnight to make your hybrid pajamas (half fish, half t-shirt!), in addition to the possibilities of routes.
DJ set at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design
A free visit to the permanent collections and a themed meeting with the museum’s intermediaries on various works are organised.
For dancers and music lovers, a DJ set is held in the courtyard of the Madd-Bordeaux Museum from 9 pm to midnight.
Monet, Renoir, Chagall in the Bassins des Lumières
The exhibition “Monet, Renoir… Chagall, Voyages en Méditerranée” returns to the Bassins des Lumières for the evening of Saturday, May 14, 2022. It is an immersion in the masterpieces of some twenty artists: Renoir, Monet, Pissarro , Signac , Derain, Vlaminck, Dufy, Chagall.
Night experience in the botanical garden
One-hour guided tours are organized in the botanical garden between 8.30 pm and 10 pm.

Become an architect at CIAP – World Heritage Bordeaux
On the Place des Bourses, your architectural plans for the construction of the Saint-Michel spire will be exhibited and assessed.
The exhibition huperhuit on the submarine base
Works by CAPC and FRAC, Méca Aquitaine are on display at the submarine base as part of the “Hyperhuit” exhibition. Several visits are organized in the evenings.
Customs officer Rousseau in the spotlight at the Customs Museum
The exhibition “Around the Douanier Rousseau” presents watercolors, sketches and original drawings from the comics “Down the river” and “The borders of the Douanier Rousseau” by Mathieu Sam and Thibaut Lambert, evoking in images the painter Henri Rousseau.
At 10 pm the very original world music duo Sou-ko will perform on site.
Costume party at Cap Science
As part of the “Body and Sports” exhibition, Cap Science invites visitors to come dressed in sportswear. The goal: to understand what goes on in the mind of a top athlete or an amateur athlete.
The factory of innovations at the Museum of Ethnography of the University of Bordeaux
“The Innovation Factory” is a look behind the scenes of major innovations in healthcare.
Animations and interactive workshops are set up around the senses, especially smell.
The lights out at the FRAC, Méca aquitaine
After turning off the lights of Nina Childress’s “Body Body” exhibition, visitors to the FRAC can revisit the works thanks to a UV lamp.

Display at the Museum of the Sea and Navy
The film “The Metamorphoses of the Polar Bear” by Rémy Marion and Charlène Gravel will be screened in the presence of the director. This 52-minute feature film follows polar bears step by step through the seasons. Shot in the four corners of the Arctic for five years, this film gives some reason to hope for its survival.
Easy visit to the Cité du Vin
Only fixed route access is possible from 6 PM to midnight.
A confetti city at Arc en Rêve, an architecture center
Visitors are invited to imagine and integrate their own garden city in the “City of Confetti” exhibition. All proposals represent a large city full of gardens for an evening.
