“Culture never goes on vacation”. Putting the escalating point on the summer in Forlì, the Councilor for Culture Valerio Melandri presents the season of the San Domenico Arena in his weekly blog, with a rich program of events starting on June 10 and ending on September 2. “We can in fact confirm that we will not be able to leave the inhabitants of Forlì alone during the summer months by “offering them a show every night”, which has also become the motto of the review – Melandri begins -. Now in its third edition, the Arena San Domenico programming in the summer always makes me very happy because it simply expresses the main elements of my vision of culture “.
Melandri goes into detail about the planned events: “The seventy evenings planned will be staged by some forty cultural and artistic associations and realities in the area. The variety of topics covered and the different artistic methods with which they will addressed, will provide the Romagna audience with the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of different shows.Between music, comedies, ballets, musicals, family shows, cultural gatherings and movie nights, participants can build their own and personal cultural awareness, without any imposition by the administration”.
In the summer of the Arena, Melandri wants to “underline the synergy between public and private. What we perform is a choral and collective work with the local reality, inspired by the principle of subsidiarity and complementarity. The municipality supplies the containers – in this case even more beautiful thanks to the new Garden of Museums – and the local associations fill them with their content, without competition We want to enhance the beauty that already exists in the city by giving the right tools and possibilities to those who want to make it come true , creating the ideal conditions for experience and talent to express themselves at their best and for the benefit of citizenship”.
“As a board – he notes – we have always been guided by the desire to concretely implement cultural policy in which the municipality and private persons work together and support each other and guarantee the public mission of a cultural offer of great value. An example of what has just been mentioned , is the provision by the municipality of a high-performing technical set-up to support the participating subjects. For a total value of 50,000 euros, the service includes technical equipment with audio lighting system and roof construction inside. “American and a specialized technician who provides assistance every evening. By doing this, the participants can return high-quality events to the audience, have more time for rehearsals and save money for the staging of the shows.”
The Cultural Topics of the Summer Arena
“A fundamental ally of the municipality for culture in the summer is again the Accademia Perduta / Romagna Teatri, which I am very fond of – remembers the Councilor for Culture -. Its precious contribution in terms of programming guarantees the public function of the theater despite its character as a private company, giving the city a sense of community without seasons and a high quality theatrical offering 16 shows on the Arena stage, including comic, nouveau cirque, music, operetta, family shows, art insights, modern, contemporary, neoclassical and acrobatic dance.
Thanks to a new and careful look, these artistic proposals will satisfy the curiosity and attention of the public, whose changes will be interpreted with nationally known, established and emerging talents. The different realities of the area are also essential for the realization of the exhibition, which I want to mention precisely: first of all, thanks to the Cassa dei Risparmi Foundation of Forlì and the City Chamber of Commerce, the ChiaraMilla Association will contribute to the Summer Arena this year . , ForlìMusica, Angelo Masini Musical Institute, Wilma Vernocchi, Friends of the Museums of Forlì Association, AUSL, Maurizio Tassani & The men in black, Forlì for Giuseppe Verdi, Associazione Amando, In Arte Academy, La Compagnia dell’ Anello, Seismic Area, Group Qaos, Orto del Brogliaccio Association, Emilia Romagna Festival, Don Francesco Ricci Cultural Center-La Bottega dell’Orefice, L’Ortica Cultural Center, Entroterre Foundation, Forlì City Choir, Big Ben APS, Giuseppe Verdi Band – Carpinello, Young Musicians European Orchestra, Compagnia Bella – Productions, Cosascuola Academy, Friends of Don Dario – Sadurano Association, Magically Mozart Association, Avis Comunale, Sweet Mama Singers, Teatro delle Forchette, City Band of Forlì, Art No.Vi. Forlì-Cesena, La Cumpagni dla Zercia, Forlì Suona Committee, Cla Bela Cumpagnì. I would like to make a special mention to ForlìSuona, the important network of music schools in the city who created the official theme song for the event with the direction and video editing by Andrea Farì. It is wonderful to see how some of the thousands and more young people involved in the musical courses of this reality have come together and committed to give Forlì such a good job. In addition, we reserve a few Mondays in the Arena for companies: we make the Arena’s spaces available for conventions and initiatives, thus bringing the profit, non-profit and public sectors together in one team at the service of culture.”
The summer of the Arena for the cultural Forlì of the future
Melandri concludes: “One of our main objectives is to encourage a new protagonism of cultural subjects and inhabitants of Forlì, rediscover the cultural value of the city and ensure its creative vitality. Through the Arena we guarantee continuity of citizenship in the programming of the city’s cultural heritage: without excluding audience or target group, we offer theater twelve months a year, underlining that for us culture must be a structured and constant element for Forlì choice or impossibility, he concludes to stay in Forlì in the hottest months of the year; as Ruggero Sintoni said a few days ago during the presentation of the summer program: “the city is emptying, but we stay and we are here.” Another example of this will also be the event are scheduled for Saturday, September 3: to close the summer festival and inaugurate the autumn festival in Piazza Saffi t will be “Cara Forlì” , the show dedicated to the smooth, to Romagna and Secondo Casadei, decorating. In a long-term vision, events like these contribute to building the path that Forlì plans to add daily and on several fronts to the national map of “cultural cities” through content, activities, initiatives and events with a wide range and high quality.”.
